Joaquin and Maria are Jack Russell Terriers, aged 5 and 4 respectively. For their whole lives, these two sweethearts have been raised by a loving human dad, who passed away in February, with his two companions by his side.
Since then, a handful of caring friends and neighbors have been taking care of them, feeding them, walking them, and helping them get through this transition surrounded by love, like their dad would’ve wished.
At first the dogs were fearful of these strangers, but quickly came to accept and love them. They both are leash trained, sit on command, Joaquin will “give you five” and his sister will “speak” for treats. Their dad spent a lot of time training them, and helping them to become the very best dogs they could be. Such is why, whomever brings these two into their family will feel as though they’ve won the Lotto.
While they wish they could, none of the people who have been caring for Joaquin and Maria are able to keep them long-term. They have been raised together, and we hope they will be adopted together.
They are both incredibly sweet, very smart, great with other dogs, fine with cats, and ready to bond with another human friend they’ll be able to call their family forever more.
