COST SPAY & NEUTER CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
INFORMATION
The low-cost Spay & Neuter Certificate program assists qualified residents of Kern County with the sterilization of their dogs and cats. The low-cost Spay and Neuter Certificate covers the spay/neuter surgical procedure, rabies vaccination (if not current), and microchip for $20 per animal. The $20 fee per animal is due upon approval. The Spay or Neuter Voucher is valid for 60 days from approval date.
Low-cost Spay and Neuter Certificates are available to use at Critters without Litters. 2 spay or neuter certificates per household maximum. Please be sure to include qualifying documentation with your application when applying for the certificate.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR LOW-COST SPAY & NEUTER CERTIFICATE
- Must be a resident of Kern County who is 18 years of age or older, have a valid Photo ID and meet the following requirements:
- Earn $30,000 or less annually or;
- Be on a Government Subsidy including;
- SSI, Disability, Unemployment, Veteran’s Benefits, Food Stamps, WIC, TANF, Medi-cal, etc.
- Consideration will be given to applicants with other forms of financial hardships.
- Required Documentation
- Valid Photo ID
- Proof of Income
- Tax Return or paycheck stub
- Statement or award letter from Government Subsidy
- Proof of Address
- Utility bill
- Rental contract or mortgage statement
- Pet Requirements
- No dogs or cats over 8 years old
- Must be able to pass a pre-surgery exam the day of the surgery
- Certain restrictions may apply
- Must be the legal owner of the animal (rescue groups do not qualify for this program).
- Feral cats and stray dogs do not qualify for these programs.
- Pet owner is responsible for all costs over those allowed by the program. Any additional charges incurred at Critters without Litters are not the financial responsibility of S&N Foundation. The I-Collar ($5) and take home pain medications ($10) are an added cost to the pet owner.
- Critters without Litters reserves the right to deny surgery for aggressive animals that cannot be safely handled by staff.
- An appointment is necessary for all surgical services.
